With arthritis of the knee, the knee joint often becomes stiff and may swell, this makes it difficult to bend and straighten the knee all the way. Pain and swelling may be worse in the morning, or after sitting or resting. Evening pain may be due to overuse. Activity may cause pain to flare up and can also produce inflammation or swelling.
According to the latest from John Hopkins Medicine, the most common causes of knee pain today are related to aging (osteoarthritis), injury/accident, or repeated stress on the knee. Common knee problems include arthritis, sprained or strained ligaments, cartilage tears, tendonitis, and patella tracking pain or arthritis.
A torn ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) injury happens when the ACL in your knee gets damaged or torn (‘ACL tear’). This tear can be complete or a partial tear. The ACL is a strong band of tissue that connects your thigh bone (femur) to your shinbone (tibia) and helps keep your knee stable when you move. When this ligament gets torn (ACL injury), it can cause a lot of pain and make it hard to move your knee.
Some common causes of a torn ACL include playing sports (ex: football tackle) or doing activities that involve sudden stops, quick changes in direction, or jumping and landing. Sports like basketball, soccer, and football have a higher risk of ACL injuries because they involve these types of movements. Accidents, like falling or getting hit in the knee, can also cause a torn ACL.
Why put yourself through invasive surgery if it can be avoided. Knee replacement surgery can be very expensive and reports of the total cost of this procedure vary with the hospital, physician and demographic region of the country. Most major insurance companies including Medicare cover knee replacements. According to the published statistics, the average cost of a knee replacement exceeds $45,000.
The pain management experts at Advanced Medical Clinics specialize in the treatment of chronic knee pain and osteoarthritis and offer an innovative non-surgical knee pain relief program that can relieve your discomfort and restore joint function and motion.
If you are a candidate for the Advanced Medical Clinics Knee Recovery Program, most patients feel relief beginning after just the first few treatments. After the first stage of your program (relief phase), the majority of patients feel dramatic relief or lowering of their pain. During the next phase (corrective phase) they have returned to most regular activities and after the final phase of care (rehabilitation phase) most are able to go up and down stairs, do walking/jogging, and more have natural knee motions without pain.
Because every patient that comes to Advanced Medical Clinics is different, our Accelerated Joint Recovery Protocol is personalized for each patient. Our team of healthcare providers have decades of experience and deploy a protocol pulling from nearly a dozen proven treatment modalities. The aim of the Accelerated Joint Recovery Protocol is to restore function, increase the health of the tissues and joints, decreasing pain, while being back functionality.
We want to see you living an active life - Free of Knee Pain!
The short answer to this question is: yes!
Knee bursitis is a condition that occurs when the small, fluid-filled sacs called bursae become inflamed. These sacs act as cushions between the knee bones, tendons, and muscles around the knee joint, helping to reduce friction during movement. Specifically in the knee, several bursae aid in smooth joint motion, but when one or more of these sacs become irritated or inflamed, it can lead to discomfort, swelling, and limited mobility. Factors contributing to knee bursitis may include repetitive stress, direct trauma to the knee joint, or an underlying condition like knee arthritis or gout. Bursitis can affect anyone but is more common among athletes, individuals who engage in repetitive kneeling, and those with a history of joint issues.
